Fact or Fiction? “Can a hurricane really pick up a shark and throw it on land?”

A great white shark appearing to fly through the air during a powerful hurricane near the coast, with storm clouds and palm trees bending in the wind — a Sharknado-style scene illustrating the viral myth.

Fact or Fiction? “A hurricane can pick up a shark and throw it on land.”

❌ FICTION 🦈 Technically fiction… but with a wild twist.

This myth owes its fame to pop culture and the legendary Sharknado vibe, but in the real world, hurricanes aren’t out here launching sharks through your living room window like airborne torpedoes.

That said, nature does get weird. Waterspouts (think mini tornadoes over water) can lift small marine life like fish or frogs and carry them inland. It’s rare, but “fish rain” has actually been documented around the world.

But can a hurricane really pick up a shark and throw it on land?

Nah. They’re a little too heavy and aerodynamic (or not aerodynamic at all, really) to go flying.

So if you see a shark cruising down Main Street during a hurricane, something has gone very wrong, and probably involves Hollywood.

🌪️ Waterspouts: real.

🦈 Flying sharks: only on TV.

⚡ Myth busted, but still epic.
